23 November 2021

11/19/21 an all-Ukrainian information campaign was launched from the National Bank of Ukraine to popularize non-cash payments #Cashless, to which Credit Dnipro Bank joined. The goal of the campaign is to inform Ukrainians about the advantages and convenience of cashless payments.

As part of the information campaign, Bank Credit Dnepr, together with the National Bank, will talk about modern opportunities for widespread use of non-cash payments, in particular, how to open a bank account, types of payment cards, online banking, how to make payments and transfers through payment sites and marketplaces by requisites and QR code. In addition, they will explain how NFC technology works, how to tokenize a payment card and add it to a smartphone, smart watch or fitness bracelet, and also remind about the basic safety rules during cashless payments.

“Being cashless is a healthy financial habit that saves time, which we always lack. In particular, contactless payments through electronic wallets Apple Pay, Google Pay, Garmin, Mi Pay are something without which it is already difficult to imagine life, - says Sergey Panov, Chairman of the Board of Credit Dnepr Bank. “Non-cash payments are also very convenient and safe: without leaving your home you can make purchases, pay utility bills, top up your mobile account,” added Sergei Panov.

“According to the results of a study conducted by the National Bank in 2020, 76% of Ukrainians used a payment card over the past year, while online banking was only 21%. There is still a fairly significant percentage of citizens who, having received a salary, scholarship or pension on a card, withdraw money from it at an ATM and pay in cash, '' said Deputy Chairman of the NBU Aleksey Shaban.

He added that the older population of Ukraine needs the greatest support in mastering non-cash payments, especially in the regions, since this topic requires skills not only in financial, but also in digital literacy.

“Therefore, we hope that young people will help the older generation to get acquainted with the nuances of non-cash payments and teach them to pay for utilities online and buy on the Internet,” said Aleksey Shaban.

Thus, the #Cashless campaign is not only educational in nature, but also acquires a social dimension.

“The National Bank is consistently pursuing a policy aimed at increasing the share of non-cash payments. We have a Roadmap for the development of a cashless economy until 2025, which provides for a gradual transition of Ukraine to the Cashless economy by stimulating non-cash expenditures, developing an infrastructure for cashless payments, reducing the use of cash and ensuring the consistency of the payment infrastructure, ”said the Director of the Strategy and Development Department of the NBU Arsen Makarchuk.

“Today we see a clear trend towards an increase in the number and volume of non-cash payments. Ukrainians are increasingly preferring cashless settlements. Cashless payments have already become a habit for many Ukrainians that meets their current needs. At the same time, it is an indicator of both an increase in the level of financial literacy and confidence in payment innovations. We are sure that thanks to the information campaign, citizens of all ages will find answers to all their questions and will use different non-cash payment instruments even more often, ”commented Olga Vasilyeva, Deputy Director of the Department of Payment Systems and Innovative Development of the NBU.

For educational purposes, the National Bank is also launching a special web page https://promo.bank.gov.ua/cashless/ “Cashless” with detailed information about the campaign and non-cash payments.
